Introduction to Course 201

Thanks for taking the Virtual University of Investing's Course 201: Chart Reading. In this course you will learn just about everything there is to know about commodity price charts. We are going to start out with the basics like The Parts of the Charts and what each of the ticks represent on the data lines. If this confuses you right now then do not worry. In the next section Open, High, Low and Close (OHLC) Exposed we will explain everything. Right now though, I just wanted to point out a few features of this course to you. Whenever we make a reference to another topic in this course or any other 200 level course we will put a link to it. It will be a different color, probably blue if you using this on-line, and it will be underlined. That means if you go and click on that different colored text you will go directly to that lesson. This makes it easy for you to go back, or forward, and freshen up on something that you might not have grasped the first time through.

You can also move to the next lesson or the previous lesson by clicking on the appropriate link at the bottom of each page. This will allow you to read the entire course straight through if you prefer to do it that way.

You may want to review the free Beginnerís Corner classes on-line before starting here. Although we aim to teach you everything, it will be helpful to you if you understand at least the big picture of what is going on. I remember when I was first learning about commodities, there were plenty of topics that I had to study for hours before I understood them. There were topics that I studied for days! Do not worry if you do not understand everything the first time. Try to get as much of it as you can. Try to answer the questions at the end of each section and if you happen to get some wrong, do not worry. Read the explanations to the questions and then move on. You can come back to that topic again and again. You will be able to review this course as often as you like during your enrollment. So relax and enjoy, because you are on your way to learning how to substantially supplement your present income and maybe even take on a new career as a professional investor. Good luck!
